Xingyue 4-Stroke Engine โ€” No Oil Mixing, Simpler Maintenance

Xingyue 4-Stroke Engine โ€” No Oil Mixing, Simpler Maintenance

The Scout 40 runs on straight 87 Octane unleaded gasoline โ€” no oil-to-fuel mixing ratio required. The Xingyue 4-stroke air-cooled engine eliminates the most common cause of beginner engine errors, delivers 0.9kW of power for 10-15 mph capability, and needs only periodic oil changes rather than the constant pre-ride fuel mixing that 2-stroke engines require. IMPORTANT: Check and add engine oil (10W-40) before the very first start โ€” the engine ships without oil.

No fuel-mixing ratios to get wrong โ€” one less thing that can go wrong on a young rider's first gas-powered machine.
Front AND Rear Disc Brakes โ€” Dual-Disc Safety at This Price Point

Front AND Rear Disc Brakes โ€” Dual-Disc Safety at This Price Point

The Scout 40 includes hydraulic disc brakes on both the front and rear wheels. Disc brakes deliver shorter stopping distances and more responsive deceleration than drum-brake alternatives โ€” critical for young riders whose reaction times are still developing. Dual-disc at this price and this ATV size is a genuine upgrade, not standard.

Dual-disc stopping power most 40cc mini ATVs skip โ€” the extra margin matters most for riders whose reaction times are still developing.
Front + Rear Utility Racks Included โ€” The Kids ATV That Actually Carries Things

Front + Rear Utility Racks Included โ€” The Kids ATV That Actually Carries Things

Scout 40 ships with both a front cargo rack AND a rear cargo rack as standard equipment โ€” along with the integrated front bumper guard for impact protection. Front rack for the water bottle. Rear rack for the gear bag. Neither requires a separate purchase. Most 40cc mini ATVs in this price range include only a rear rack, or no rack at all.

A front rack for the water bottle, a rear rack for the gear bag โ€” most 40cc mini ATVs in this range give you one or neither.

Cartoons, Green Camo, Hip Hop, Hot Rod Flame, Pineapple Green, Pink Camo, Spider Black, Spider Blue, Spider Red โ€” nine options. The Spider series (Black, Blue, Red) features three-dimensional spiderweb hydrographic patterns that create genuine visual depth on the bodywork surface. Pineapple Green is exclusive to the Scout 40 in this lineup. All nine use water-transfer printing sealed under UV-stable clear coat โ€” not painted, not stickered.

Why Buy From Us

Company History

The company behind X-Pro has been operating in the U.S. motorcycle and powersports market for over 20 years. We are a licensed U.S. motorcycle dealer, not a dropshipper or a temporary marketplace seller. Our operations include product sourcing, compliance review, warehousing, fulfillment, after-sales support, and a dedicated parts inventory โ€” all managed in-house from the United States.

The X-Pro Brand

X-Pro was established in 2018 as a dedicated powersports brand, built on over two decades of hands-on experience in the U.S. motorcycle and powersports market. The product line includes mopeds, scooters, dirt bikes, motorcycles, ATVs, go-karts, and electric powersports vehicles โ€” all sold with full dealer backing.

When X-Pro entered the market, the affordable powersports space in the United States was largely defined by short-term sellers offering products with no replacement parts, limited or no after-sales support, and inconsistent quality control. Riders who wanted reliable support had to pay premium prices from established brands. X-Pro was built to bridge that gap.

Warehouses & Fulfillment

We operate two company-owned warehouses โ€” one in California and one in Texas. These are not third-party logistics (3PL) facilities; they are staffed and managed by our own team. Inventory is stored, quality-checked, and shipped directly from these locations, giving us control over packaging, inspection, and delivery timelines across the continental United States.

After-Sales & Warranty

Every complete unit is backed by a manufacturer warranty. Warranty claims and support requests are handled by our U.S.-based team โ€” customers contact us directly through our website or marketplace messaging, and our team has access to inventory systems, warehouse operations, and product records to resolve issues efficiently.

Parts Availability

We maintain a full replacement parts inventory at our U.S. warehouses. Parts are stocked before vehicles are listed โ€” not ordered from overseas after a customer reports an issue. Parts orders ship from the same facilities that handle complete units.

Before You Buy

1 ยท Stay Connected

After your order ships, our team will contact you by phone and email to coordinate freight delivery. A valid, reachable phone number is required for LTL freight delivery; without it, the carrier cannot schedule your delivery appointment.

2 ยท Shipping & Delivery โ€” LTL Freight

Your vehicle ships via LTL (Less-Than-Truckload) freight from our U.S. warehouse โ€” this is not FedEx or UPS Ground. LTL freight delivers to the curb or driveway, not inside your garage or home. The carrier will call to schedule a delivery appointment; you must be present with a valid ID to receive the shipment. Inspect the pallet and packaging before signing.

3 ยท Assembly & Setup

Professional mechanic assembly is highly recommended. Regardless of who assembles it, you must tighten all bolts and apply thread-locker (Loctite) before the first ride. Vibration will loosen factory settings during use โ€” this is a required pre-ride step, not a defect.

4 ยท Engine Maintenance โ€” Gas Models

Before the first ride, check the engine oil level. Use 87 octane or higher unleaded gasoline โ€” do not use E85 or high-ethanol blends. Inspect all bolts and apply thread-locker (Loctite) before the first ride. Change the engine oil after the first break-in period.

5 ยท Real-World Performance

Top speed figures are measured under optimal conditions with an average-weight rider on flat terrain. Actual performance varies based on rider weight, terrain type, incline, and temperature.

6 ยท Storage

For long-term storage (30 days or more), drain or use a fuel stabilizer in the tank. Store the vehicle in a dry, covered location. Disconnect the battery if storing for more than 30 days.

7 ยท Safety, Rider Requirements & California Restriction

Riders under 18 must be supervised by a parent or guardian at all times. Always wear a properly fitted, approved helmet and full protective gear โ€” helmet is not included. This vehicle is for off-road use only and cannot be registered or operated on public roads.

8 ยท Break-in Period

We recommend a break-in period for the first few hours of riding. During break-in, avoid sustained full-throttle operation. After break-in, re-inspect and re-tighten all bolts and change the engine oil.

FAQ
What age is the Scout 40 designed for?
Based on the 70 lb maximum load capacity and 22.46-inch seat height, the Scout 40 is designed for children approximately 3 to 7 years old. Always verify your child's current weight against the 70 lb limit before purchase, and ensure they can comfortably reach the handlebars and controls. Children must always be supervised by an adult while riding.
What is the maximum weight limit?
The Scout 40 supports a maximum load capacity of 70 lbs (approximately 32 kg). If your child is at or near 70 lbs, please consider the X-PRO Eagle 110cc ATV (ATV-P001), which supports riders up to 143 lbs.
What is the difference between the Scout 40 and the Thunder 40?
Both are X-PRO 40cc gas ATVs at $589.95. Key differences: The Scout 40 (ATV-Z04) includes both a front cargo rack AND a rear cargo rack as standard equipment, along with the front bumper guard. The Thunder 40 (LY-ATV-40C) is focused on visual impact with its hydrographic design selection. The Scout 40 offers 9 color options including the exclusive Spider series (Spider Black/Blue/Red) and Pineapple Green. The Thunder 40 offers 7 colors in different graphic themes. Choose Scout 40 if front + rear racks and Spider/Pineapple Green colors are priorities. Choose Thunder 40 for its distinct graphic colorways.
Does the Scout 40 have front and rear cargo racks?
Yes โ€” the Scout 40 ships with both a front cargo rack AND a rear cargo rack as standard equipment, along with an integrated front bumper guard. Both racks are included in the box. The front rack and bumper guard are one integrated assembly piece. No additional purchases required for full rack capability.
Does the headlight actually work?
No โ€” the Scout 40's headlight is decorative only and does not provide functional illumination for riding in low-light or nighttime conditions. This is clearly noted in the product specifications. The Scout 40 is designed for outdoor daytime riding with adult supervision. Do not ride after dark or in low-visibility conditions.
How does the pull start work? Can my child start it?
The Scout 40 uses a recoil pull-start system: hold the handlebar throttle at idle, grip the T-handle firmly, and pull the cord in one brisk, firm motion. Cold engine starts typically require 2-4 pulls. Warm restarts are usually immediate. For children ages 3-6, a parent will typically need to start the engine โ€” the child then controls the throttle and steering while riding.
Does the Scout 40 have a speed limiter or governor?
Yes. The Scout 40 includes a speed governor, allowing a parent to limit the maximum throttle for newer or younger riders.
What fuel does the Scout 40 use?
The Scout 40 uses regular 87 Octane unleaded gasoline, in a 1.8-liter fuel tank. No oil-fuel mixing is required โ€” this is a 4-stroke engine. CRITICAL FIRST-USE WARNING: The engine does NOT come pre-filled with oil from the factory. Before the very first start, add 10W-40 engine oil. The amount is specified in the owner's manual. Running the engine without oil will cause permanent, non-warranty engine damage.
Is the Scout 40 available in California?
No โ€” due to California CARB emissions regulations, the Scout 40 is not available for sale in California. It is EPA-certified for all other 48 contiguous U.S. states.
How is it shipped? How long does delivery take?
The Scout 40 ships via UPS Ground or FedEx Ground in a 38" ร— 22" ร— 19" box (approximately 93 lbs gross weight). This is standard parcel delivery โ€” no freight carrier, no delivery appointment phone call, no scheduling window. Most orders arrive within 3-7 business days depending on your location. The compact box size is specifically why UPS/FedEx delivery is possible for this model.
How much assembly is required?
The Scout 40 arrives approximately 85% pre-assembled from the factory. Assembly involves attaching the 4 wheels, handlebar clamp, front bumper + front rack (one integrated piece), and rear rack โ€” typically 45-60 minutes with basic hand tools (wrench and screwdriver). An official X-PRO assembly video (shared with ATV-Z05/LY-ATV-40M) is available on YouTube via our support page.
What makes the Spider series colors different from other colorways?
The Spider series (Spider Black, Spider Blue, Spider Red) uses a hydrographic water-transfer printing process with a three-dimensional spiderweb graphic design. When viewed up close, the Spider pattern creates a genuine visual depth effect โ€” the web lines appear to have raised texture, creating the illusion of a physical three-dimensional surface rather than a flat print. All colors are sealed under UV-stable clear coat, making them scratch-resistant and fade-resistant.
What warranty does the Scout 40 include?
The Scout 40 includes X-PRO's standard limited warranty: 1-year frame warranty for structural defects, and 90-day parts warranty for manufacturing defects (non-wear items). Wear items (tires, brake pads, chain, spark plugs, bulbs) and damage from accidents, misuse, or unauthorized modifications are not covered. X-PRO maintains OEM spare parts in U.S. warehouses in California and Texas.
Are replacement parts available?
Yes โ€” X-PRO maintains OEM spare parts for the ATV-Z04 / LY-ATV-40M in U.S. warehouses in California and Texas. Parts can be ordered through xprousa.com or powersportsmax.com. Our U.S.-based support team can help identify the correct part by phone or email. Note that the Scout 40 (ATV-Z04/LY-ATV-40M) and Thunder 40 (LY-ATV-40C) may share some parts but are different models โ€” always specify ATV-Z04 or LY-ATV-40M when ordering.
Can my child ride the Scout 40 on hills or rough terrain?
The Scout 40 is designed for flat or gently graded surfaces โ€” short grass, packed dirt, gravel, and similar gentle terrain. It is not designed for steep slopes, bumpy hills, or technical off-road terrain. The owner's manual notes this specifically: the vehicle may not be able to climb steep or bumpy hills, and attempting to do so may be dangerous. Keep riding to flat, smooth surfaces appropriate for a young child.
